This Privacy Policy describes how StringSmith ("the App", "we", "us") handles information when you use our mobile application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about the data practices associated with our App.

1. Microphone Access (Audio Data)

StringSmith uses your device's microphone to detect the pitch of your instrument's strings — this is the core function of the tuner.

• Audio is analyzed in real time, directly on your device.
• No audio is ever recorded, saved to your device's storage, or transmitted anywhere.
• Audio data never leaves your device and is discarded immediately after analysis.
• The microphone is only active while the App is open and in use.

2. Data We Collect

The App itself does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data to our servers. All app settings and user-created content (custom string sets and tunings) are stored locally on your device only.

However, the App integrates third-party services that may collect certain data:

Google AdMob (Advertising)

If you have not purchased the "Remove Ads" option, the App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect:

• Device identifiers (advertising ID)
• IP address
• General location data (country/region level)
• Device information (model, operating system version)
• Ad interaction data (views, clicks)

Google Play Billing (In-App Purchases)

If you make an in-app purchase (e.g. "Remove Ads"), the transaction is handled entirely by Google Play. We do not receive or store any payment information. Google may collect data as described in Google's Privacy Policy.

3. Purpose of Data Collection

The third-party data collection described above serves the following purposes:

• Advertising — to display relevant ads within the App (AdMob)
• Purchase processing — to handle in-app purchases (Google Play Billing)

4. Consent for Personalized Ads (EU/EEA Users)

If you are located in the European Union or European Economic Area, the App will request your consent before showing personalized advertisements, in accordance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You may choose to:

• Consent to personalized ads based on your interests
• Decline personalized ads — you will still see ads, but they will not be tailored to your interests

You can change your consent choice at any time by clearing the App's data in your device settings, which will trigger a new consent prompt.

5. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. Data may be shared with the following third parties solely for the purposes described above:

• Google LLC — for advertising (AdMob) and in-app purchase processing (Google Play Billing)

6. Data Retention

We do not store any personal data on our servers. Data collected by third-party services (Google) is subject to their respective retention policies.

App settings and custom string sets stored locally on your device are retained until you uninstall the App or clear its data.

7. Your Rights (GDPR)

If you are located in the EU/EEA, you have the following rights under the GDPR:

• Right of access — request information about what data is processed
• Right to erasure — request deletion of your data
• Right to restriction — request restriction of data processing
• Right to object — object to data processing
